welcome to general observations on eggs
You’ve found the Substack of me, Heather Parry, a Glasgow-based novelist, essayist and short story writer, born and raised in Rotherham. Hello! Here’s a very old picture of me looking joyous near some water:
I write dark fiction novels, weird stories and nonfiction books on philosophy and society. I also wrote the free-access Illustrated Freelancer’s Guide with artist Maria Stoian, to try and help creative freelancers and artists through the often-stressful parts of living a freelance life.
general observations on eggs is a place for short essays on food, philosophy, politics, art, literature, writing and general functional derangement—the state in which we are all currently existing. Sometimes I’m writing 3000 words on a meal so good it made me upset, sometimes I’m enraged by our country’s politics, and sometimes I’m giving advice to writers (and also myself).
If you enjoy these essays, you can support general observations on eggs by becoming a paid subscriber from just £4 per month—or you can share, comment, or tell a friend. Either way, thank you for being here!
