Excellent explanation of British economics,

I didn't expect too much of the new Labour government, but I didn't expect to be so totally disillusioned so quickly

You did a better job at getting me to understand British economics than any economist or politician I’ve listened to. Well done Heather, this must have taken hours to research and write. But also, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at how bleak things are for us!

On my better days I see it like this: this system is failing us so badly and so irrevocably that socialism is inevitable. But that's on the good days!

Honestly I feel the same - but this weekend I interviewed the very brilliant Grace Blakeley whose books do seek to give us a better way of doing things. Highly recommend both Stolen (as an short explainer of how we have got here) and Vulture Capitalism, which is bleak but also shows a way to do things differently!

When you started complaining about giving aid to Ukraine that’s when you lost me.

It's not aid, it's military support.

Even better.

I did not read that as a complaint against giving that money, more just that if the narrative is that we have no money, but we have money to give away, then that is a contradiction and at the least needs to be spoken about.

Thank you - that was my intent
